Day by Day

“You know what’s weird? Day by day, nothing seems to change, but pretty soon…everything’s different.” This is one of my favorite quotes from Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes. And this couldn’t be more true.

The first time I read this it really struck me. And each time I ran across it after that, I had that same reaction like it was my first time reading it. This quote has become a very prominent reminder in my life, that if you don’t get up and go after your dream, it might never happen. Now, I don’t know that Bill Watterson intended that specific meaning from the quote. But I think you can draw many meanings from it, it just depends on how it personally resonates with you.

For me, it represents going after your dreams and making the changes you need to make right now in the coming, days, weeks, and months to see that dream to fruition. Day by day if you keep putting off your dreams, a few months will go by, then a few years. Then you wonder where the heck all of that time went, and what were you doing with it? Day by day if you make strides towards your dreams soon everything will be different,  but only because you made it that way! You can look back and know that you helped yourself get to where you are right now. And that, will feel exhilarating!

The best time to start something new or go after your dream is now. Do not wait for the perfect moment, because the perfect moment doesn’t exist! That moment is here, right now, get up and go!
